Drift 2024
Home Docklands, Victoria.
Drift 2024 transforms industrial by-products into a dynamic sculptural installation, integrating nature and time within the urban landscape. Installed at Home Docklands, bronze-cast rocks—modeled from blast-furnace slag—are suspended at varying heights within the planters along La Trobe and Stadium Lane. Their placement follows the site’s natural topography, creating a rhythmic, organic presence.
Small niches within the bronze forms support local plant species, while an integrated irrigation system sustains both the sculptures and surrounding greenery. Water trickles and drips across the surfaces, reinforcing the site's connection to Birrarung (the Yarra River) and the vital role of water in shaping landscapes. Over time, the patina of the bronze and the growth of plant life will further entwine the work with its environment.
Recalling the river’s natural course, Drift 2024 reclaims industrial remnants, transforming them into evolving forms that merge human history with the resilience of nature.
